Aims

Generally everybody is or can be, creative if he/she is given the opportunity. We all have creative capacities but in many instances we don’t know what they are or how to draw upon them.

So far little has been done in continuing VET to foster creative thinking. Often, creativity techniques are extras in curriculum although research proves that creativity is a general function of education. Therefore this project looks at how continuing VET can promote students’ creativity. Since the issue of creativity concerns the whole of education, the project looks at the shaping of the curriculum, methods of teaching, ethos, and the relationships between tutors and learners, as well as the needs of the community.

The project aims at the identification of approaches to treat the issue of creativity across continuing VET curricula by exploring best practice examples. The survey among principals of VET institutions as well as VET tutors, the reports of study visits and practice examples in the participating countries will deliver a solid ground for successful ways to foster creativity in continuing VET. The analysis of practice examples will lead to training materials for VET tutors to develop creativity in their students. In doing so, students in continuing VET settings will overcome their mental blocks against changes and will be able to uncover (innovation) skills slumbering in them.
